On Dal Jip is a Korean seafood restaurant and crab house tucked into Garden Grove’s bustling Koreatown strip. It’s best known for its rich, spicy hot pots featuring combinations like beef ribs and octopus, along with marinated raw crabs that bring authentic flavors straight from Korea. The restaurant’s atmosphere strikes a balance between casual and lively, with a spacious interior that still feels cozy once seated, despite sometimes being busy during peak hours.

This spot appeals most to diners who crave bold, well-seasoned Korean stews and seafood. Fans of hearty communal meals will appreciate how dishes like the Spicy Beef Rib Casserole with Octopus are designed for sharing, especially paired with their ramen noodles and finished off with fried rice cooked right in the hot pot broth. The side dishes, or banchan, complement the mains well, adding variety throughout the meal.

The service here is attentive and hands-on, with staff often assisting diners throughout the meal to add ingredients or pace the experience, which can be particularly helpful for those new to Korean hot pots. The restaurant tends to fill up quickly, so it’s best to plan visits on weekday evenings or earlier in the week to avoid a wait. Pricing leans toward the higher side, reflecting the quality and portion sizes, but it matches the authentic seafood focus and imported ingredients.

Beyond the classic hot pots, On Dal Jip also offers delicacies like the marinated soy sauce crab, imported directly from Korea, which adds a premium touch for those looking to explore traditional flavors. The limited drink selection focuses on soju and beer, which fits a straightforward dining style prioritizing food over bar ambiance.

Overall, On Dal Jip works well for groups or families who enjoy Korean-style seafood and spicy stews in a relaxed yet bustling neighborhood setting. It provides a dependable option for anyone looking to dig into Korean hot pots that balance heat, depth, and fresh seafood, reflecting the true spirit of Garden Grove’s Korean dining scene.

The restaurant is spacious and airy, the food is delicious, the small dishes are great, especially the Octopus hot pot with a unique delicious taste, with great service. Will come back and recommend to friends.

This is the best korean hot pot place that I have been. We order the beef rib and octopus hot pot. The broth was so flavourful. It is so much better to eat with ramen. I would recommend the fried rice which they will mix with the broth and cook it on the pot after you’re done eating. The cons are that the restaurant is small and always crowded, so the wait is long. The price is on the higher side, especially if you go with 2 people. Would recommend go in with a big group and share the hot pot.

The food is really good and the service is super. The waitresses are really nice and friendly and they won't let you do anything and do everything for you. I ordered the Spicy Beef Rib Casserole with Octopus small size for 3 people as it is what this place is famous for. After including tax and tips it was $122. Make sure you order the ramen. It tastes much better with ramen than udon. Definitely recommend it and will visit again. The moment I wrote this review, I already returned here for the second time as my family loves the food here. You can also order this togo if you don't want to wait as this place is kinda small, so it will take a while to dine in.

When I crave for Marinated Soy Sauce Crab and the Spicy Beef Ribs Stew Soup then I go to my favorite Korean known best for their Stew and Soy Sauce and Spicy Crab. The Soy Sauce Crab was shipped all the way from Korea so the price was a little expensive for just 1 crab is $47. But tasted hella good lol. I just wish they have more alcohol selections besides soju and beer cuz I get headache with soju the next day and I don’t drink beers. I was never a beer person that’s why lol. Staffs nice. Food’s great.

We’ve been to this Korean hotpot place many times and it never disappoints. Every time we get the short rib and octopus hotpot, added bean sprouts and ramen — everything was flavorful and satisfying. The fried rice at the end is always a must; they make it perfectly crispy on the pan. I’ve seen a number of one-star reviews complaining about the service, but honestly, we’ve never had a bad experience. The two Korean ajummas running the place may not be overly warm, but they’ve always been attentive — we’ve never had issues getting refills on broth or side dishes. They get the job done, and that’s what matters.

Korean hot pot. Pretty different from a lot of other hot pot spots. A must try! Always a wait if you come around dinner time.

We like to come here once in a while for special occasions although sometimes more than that when we want to treat ourselves as they do tend to be in the pricy side. The staff are friendly and treat us like family. One time I wore a white shirt since I didn't expect for us to end up eating here and they brought out an apron for me to wear. They also have some available for other customers too which is a thoughtful sweet gesture. They're attentive and clear out empty plates along with making sure we have enough water/broth for our hot pota
